On March 11, 2016 MD Alam backs out of his potential senate race and merged in to Missouri Secretary of State campaign.

MD Alam is the founder of Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus (MDPAAC). MDPAAC has 11 county chapters in Missouri. Alam was the National Chairman of U.S. National Democratic Party Asian American Caucus (NDPAAC). Alam is part of North American Bangladeshi Association (NABAB) and the Democratic National Bangladeshi Caucus (DNBC). Alam is the chairman of American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC). Alam was a 2012 candidate for Missouri Secretary of State. In 2010 Alam ran for Missouri House of Representative from house district 50. 2010 Alam was elected as the Democratic Committeeman of Jackson County. 

Alam was born November 30, 1971 in Khulna, Bangladesh, After graduating high school, Alam attended the National University and earned his degree in Biology in 1996. His father, a veterinary surgeon, worked for the Bangladeshi government for 20 years. Inspired by his father's example, he decided to get involved in politics as a young adult. His experiences as a politically active student led him to pursue a second bachelor's degree, this time in political science. He spent three years following University teaching math and science in a High School at a Divisional Police School in his hometown of Khulna. Alam began law school in 1997 but had to quit after one year when he realized he could not balance school with his political and teaching duties. In 1998 MD Alam went back to school to finish up is master's degree in Biology.

In 2000 joined in the U.S. Army, a veteran of Iraq war and was honorably discharged in 2005. He taught high schools algebra, calculus, personal finance & computer courses in Islamic School of Irving Tx, Islamic School of Greater Kansas City, Imagine Renaissance Academy of KC and Derrick Thomas Academy of KC. Alam was the Director of International Business for P/Strada a year before taking the post of CEO of Minority Directed Small Business in 2007. Since then, he has served as CEO for MDSBIZ Technologies Providing Senior Leadership in IT Business Consulting.

Political Career: 

In 2007, Alam founded the Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus (MDPAAC), which now includes 11 county chapters. In 2009, he became the National Chairman of US National Democratic Party Asian American Caucus, and was the Chair of first National Convention of National Democratic Party Asian American Caucus in 2011. He serves as the Democratic Party Committeeman of the 26 ward in 2010. His term as committeeman expired in 2012.
